David Kollar is a Slovak guitarist and composer known for his emotionally charged soundscapes, cinematic guitar work, and genre-defying approach. His music blends ambient, jazz, noise, and experimental textures into a unique sonic identity. He has collaborated with influential artists such as Pat Mastelotto and Trey Gunn (King Crimson), Arve Henriksen, Steven Wilson, Nad Sylvan, Nils Petter Molvær, Erik Truffaz, and Rick Cox – the long-time collaborator of Thomas Newman and Jon Hassell.
David has composed original music for numerous films and series, including the most high-profile Slovak crime films:
🎬 MIKI (2023) and ČERNÁK (2024), which explore the rise of organized crime in post-communist Slovakia.
He has released more than a dozen albums – both solo and collaborative – and has performed live across Europe. His music bridges underground experimentation with cinematic intensity and emotional depth.
Beyond music, David shares his personal diary on this page – insights from his creative process, reflections on art and life, stories from the studio and the road, and commentary on the films he watches. It’s the raw backstage, the kitchen, as they say in Slovakia.
He is also the author of two books published in Slovak that mix diary, poetry, and personal philosophy.
